In the works on paper, such as Desire and The Hand of Strangers (1998) or the more recent Heart and Choice (2003), Clemente combines typical motifs of his poetic, such as sexuality as an instrument of knowledge or the binary couples. A new iconographic theme, instead, is derived from the Yoga positions, the expression of a search for harmony between mind and body, physical sensitivity and intellective elaboration, which has never abandoned the artist. The latter in fact cannot subsist without the former, Clemente seems to affirm by putting repeatedly the stress on perceptions such as the touch.
