As photojournalist attracted by the complex Neapolitan situation, in 1980 he started to give evidence to camorra and spreading illegality phenomena. He also focussed on the social and urban conditions of the suburbs, on the decay of the contemporary town and on the transformation of urban landscapes; pictures that as a whole were collected into the book “Come eravamo: Napoli dal terremoto alla città spettacolo” (How we were: the city of Naples from the earthquake to the spectacular city). He has worked as a photographer for the newspaper “La Repubblica” from 1990 to 1992. After that, he joined Controluce Agency, where he is still working. In 1999 he reapproached his great passion for movies pointing his lens on the set and starting working with cinematography. Fiorito chooses cinema and imagery as a place to open up to a lateral, incisive, and stereoscopic look at his city. Usually the sets are under the direction of Sorrentino, with Toni Servillo as main actor, but also with De Seta, Corsicato, Capuano, Incerti, Molajoli, Turturro. Only photography can possibly express how much this city is historically designed to an imaginary consumption, with its incredible tangle of real life and fiction, reality and mise-en-scene, false and true sets, actors and extras, all together in a confluence that crosses the cinema of the last decade.
