She got to Naples in 1953, and started working first as an architect, then as a set designer and finally as a photographer. The unrestrainability of the medium became her lifestyle. Always keeping her balance between literature and the cinematographic characters of Amelie and Smoke, she scattered about her private and public life the photographical fragments of a love story with her city that is impossible to piece together completely. She works with traditional photography, shrinks from using digital, prints every image, cuts, edits, and pastes. She plays with frames, according to the infinite possibilities of shapes and sizes, unique and repeatable. The main feature of her research – and her life – is the relationship with Naples; its old town habitability: the traces of a walking path that can be still experienced, when possible, and captured into images. Photomontages, distortions carried on in the dark room, fusions of texts and images, combinations of drawings and pictures, casualness and ibrids: there is the whole Twentieth century photographic repertoire in her work, from Man Ray to Rauschenberg, even in the dimension of the infinitely small and private of her photographic notebooks.
