He’s Neapolitan and comes from the industrial district of San Giovanni a Teduccio. He studied the environmental degradation from a sociological point of view and started a photographic research about urban and suburban conditions in metropolitan areas, mainly focussing on environment, immigration, and suburbs. Influenced by the contemporary German school, he prefers to use a sociological approach, the same he used in fact to capture San Giovanni a Teduccio or to describe those globalized post-industrial suburbs. In 2008, he exhibited Il magnifico orrore (The Magnificent Horror) in Paris: a project about garbage. Garbage merges with environment, shop windows, suburbs, buildings and pavements. His research went on: landscapes and the traditional way of shooting them develops into a more formal horizontal and panoramic format and into the cold and disturbing lines of a garbage-made volcano. Naples can’t be recognized: it embodies the avant-garde evoking a challenging and widespread present. Garbage not only represents a ‘visual’ reject that can be easily inserted into the media imagination, but also a real problem for the Earth.
