Bianco-Valente’s luminescent network enfolds the four walls of the museum’s inner courtyard, relating the nineteenth-century Palazzo DonnaRegina to the different structures which, in the course of time, have followed each other on this site: from the seventeenth-century Palazzo Caputo to the Graeco-Roman city walls. It is no accident that Relational is the title of the work, which seeks to reinsert the building in the relational, architectural and social dynamic of Naples, starting from the place where it stands. The create an irregular web of synaptic links and junctions in which time remains as if ensnared, so revealing the vital energy of this site, which in its history of stratifications, accretions and restorations preserves the memory of the changes that have traversed the district and the city. But it is at night that the web performs its most complete metamorphosis: an astral grid of trajectories and asterisms of the vault of the sky, so restoring to memory the constellations observed for the first time by Galileo Galilei using a telescope and described in his treatise Sidereus Nuncius of 1610.
