curated by Eduardo Cicelyn - Mario Codognato
Madre is the first museum of Contemporary Art located in the historic centre of a city. The Portuguese architect Alvaro Siza has transformed the old Donnaregina palace into a splendid functional modern space for contemporary art.
Standing in the hidden heart of Naples, where the city’s genuine spirit continues to thrive, close to the Duomo and to the Treasure of San Gennaro and only few metres from the Archaeological Museum, Madre Museum also offers an opportunity to renew the tourist vocation of an area with a wealth of social values which need to be revived and a cultural heritage which needs to be newly discovered.
