Annika Larsson
Stoccolma 1972
One of the main characters of Scandinavian art is the tension between reality and fantasy, between narration and abstraction, as in Lars von Trier's films. Annika Larsson is also an able creator of mise-en-scène that translate day to day reality in a surreal atmosphere. Tension is very high in the rarefied and impeccable scenes of Larsson's videos. Rather banal settings assume highly symbolic values that involve the spectator in an intriguing dynamic of attraction and repulsion, where even in a highly narrative context, ambiguity serves to leave space for the spectator's imagination.
