The currently ongoing setting up of the Library and the Multimedia Archive is meant to establish a documentation centre specialized in contemporary art – in line with the tradition of the museum – focusing on both the Neapolitan and international artistic realities. The books collected in this first phase are mainly books about the artists and movements that are present in the museum collections, with monographs and a selection of catalogues, both old and recent. Similarly, the Multimedia Archive collects and classifies audio, video, photographic and textual material produced by the museum (and other sources) since its establishment and up to the present day, as well as materials concerning festivals and events that paved the way for its foundation, such as Grande Opera Italiana, Napoli Anno Zero, Annali delle Arti and the big installations in Piazza del Plebiscito in Naples. In the multimedia section of the Madre website there is a space dedicated to the Multimedia Archive, where the documents are updated following the museum’s activities.
The person in charge of the Library and of the Multimedia Archive is Prof. Mario Franco.
Consultation of the Library and the multimedia Archive is free of charge and requires booking.
